Kevin Keegan's second home game in charge this time round sees him face our Teesside foes in a 1.30pm kickoff on Sunday for live coverage on SkySports.

Level Seven seats remain on sale. Prices from: £31 adults, £27 OAPs & £19 bairns online here at any time and via the SJP box office from 11am until kickoff (or sell out).

NUFC: to follow....Emre is available after suspension while Viduka is set to return against his former side. Barton is available, as is N'Zogbia - who will be banned at Villa.

Geremi and Martins remain at the African Nations Cup after their sides progressed to the Quarter Final stages but the involvement of Faye and Beye ended on Thursday.

The Senegal duo are expected to return to the Newcastle squad for next Saturday's trip to Villa.

Last goal in match @ 6/1

First goal for Newcastle @ 7/2
Score two or more @ 12/1
Score a hat trick @ 66/1

MFC: to follow....Woodgate won't feature against his previous employers after leaving for White Hart Lane, while Tuesday night's home victory over Wigan saw Downing, Aliadiere and Sanli all pick up knocks.

Pogatetz is also sidelined with an ankle problem, while Mohamed Shawky is playing for Egypt in the African Nations Cup but his fellow countryman Mido wasn't selected and has returned to the first team squad - note that we avoided use of the phrase "returned to fitness"...

Boro's new striker signing Afonso Alves was expected to make his debut on Sunday, but Friday brought fresh claims that AZ Alkmaar were disputing the transfer, claiming a pre-contract agreement with the player.

Amid talk of court action and bans, Alves may not be available at SJP after all.

Ahead of this game, Kevin Keegan told reporters:

"This team has not scored for four Premiership games and confidence is not where it should be. Until we change those stats it's a burden, not just personally but for the team.

"We want to finish the season well, to win games and show our fans next season can be something special, to see the club take off. That's the job now.

"Let's find out exactly what we have got at this club in next 14 games. I can't promise players they're going to run out at Wembley or play in Europe so I think that's a test for us.

"I wouldn't say they're on trial but I think at a club, every training session, every game a player has the chance to show what he's got.

"It's a test of character. I can't say to the players, 'Come on we can finish in seventh or eighth place', although we probably would if we went unbeaten until the end of season. But in reality, our season is now just about how high we can finish. We're a small squad and it's also about how close we can get as a group and get the very best out of ourselves. That's the challenge.

"We understand where we are. Our season has to start on Sunday. It's a big, big game for us.

"They (Newcastle) haven't covered things in the academy the way other clubs have done and that's not the fault of the people we have at the academy.

"Nobody likes paying money for kids but that is what happens at every other club.

"At Man City, Daniel Sturridge who came on (in City's last two games); we had to fight off two or three clubs for him because everyone felt he was an outstanding talent when he was 15.

"I allowed him to train with the first team for a few days a week. You have to do these things if you want the best kids.

"At Man City, we were doing what Newcastle are doing now.

"Liverpool have done it and I know that because I was at their academy six weeks ago. When I was there a guy from Iceland signed, a very good player, and I have worked with him at Soccer Circus.

"I wouldn't be surprised to see him coming through and playing for Liverpool in two or three years time.

"It is happening everywhere. I know six clubs were after him, not just in this country but in Italy and places like that.

"This is the main focus of Dennis' job, but he also has to give the board the football side because they are still learning about football. They need someone who knows the game and Dennis certainly knows it, you only need to be in his company for half-an-hour to realise that.

"I honestly think prison has been a reality check for him (Barton).

"I'm watching him every minute of every day, like all my players, and I've got to say I see a different Joey Barton.

"There were a couple of times (during Wednesday's game at Arsenal) he might have done something silly, but his brain took over and he thought 'no I'm not going to do that any more'.

"You've got to give him another chance. Everyone deserves that, even someone who maybe has let you down a couple of times, like he has me.

"I've said 'clean piece of paper, don't let me down, I'll support you 100%'. And I will."

"I know Joey as well as he knows himself, having seen him come through as a 16 or 17-year-old. Joey had to scrap and fight like you wouldn't believe. He was always just a little bit behind everyone else.

"Some lads were getting £200 a week, Joey was getting £150. He'd get a one-year contract, while they would get two.

"He's had to fight that all the way and that sort of desperation helped him get to a level a lot of people thought he wouldn't achieve.

"When he got there, he struggled to handle that for different reasons."

"Don't be fooled by this transfer window - the funds are definitely there for us. That was my choice not to bring anyone in. We could have brought in four or five players and spent some money.

"But I didn't want to do that for the sake of it. In the summer we'll bring whatever we feel is needed for the next jump.

"That next jump is to be fighting for a European place. Mike Ashley will support me, no doubt about that. He loves this club and is excited and enthusiastic as I am."
