Alan Shearer will not be returning to Newcastle United as Kevin Keegan's assistant manager, but could still have a role with the club.
The legendary Magpies striker, who holds the club's all-time goalscoring record, had admitted he would be interested in joining Keegan's staff.
But after initial talks between the duo, the former England boss has announced that Shearer will not become his No.2 at St James' Park.
However, Keegan has left the door open for Shearer to take a different role at the club, should they be able to agree on a suitable post.
After a detailed meeting between the duo, they both agreed that the much-vaunted 'dream-ticket' combination would not work.
However, Keegan confirmed that he would meet with Shearer again after the weekend to hold further discussions on finding a post for the man he signed for a then-world record ?5million as a player.
The two fell out after Keegan was unable to attend Shearer's testimonial as he was on a family holiday in America, but they have now settled their differences.
Frank discussion
Keegan told Sky Sports News: "I spent four hours with him last night, and it was fantastic just to talk with him again because for a year-and-a-half we lost touch with each other.
"It was a very frank discussion, he asked all the right questions and I tried to give him the answers honestly. I, hopefully, asked him all the right questions.
"What was decided at that meeting was that he won't come here as No.2.
"But it's my belief from the conversation we had that there's a chance that he will come here in some capacity.
"We will know that by next Monday or Tuesday when he's had time to talk it over with his family. He needs that time to discuss it."
Capacity
Keegan is certain the duo can work together, despite both being major figures in the club's history, and he firmly believes that Shearer will one day occupy the Magpies hot-seat.
He added: "The one thing I'm convinced of is that we can work together.
"Alan will manage this club one day, there's no doubt about it. It would be easier and it would be better if he knows the club, and he's an insider as opposed to someone who is trying to guess what's happening.
"The ball is very firmly in Alan's court. The owner, the chairman, myself, the players and the staff would really welcome him if he comes and joins us in some capacity.
"And that capacity could change over the years."
他正式拒绝了kk的相邀作他的助教,但shearer会以职员的身份为球会效力,但具体什么职务我也不清楚,不过我是失望的,此前他说过不单单纽卡要找他,显然他的目标其实是纽卡主教练吧

等了这么多天,他的决定是让人遗憾的,这个顽固的家伙到底想怎么样,我很生气,刚刚再次看文章,我猜他会先做前锋教练,怎么也像当年的ian rush的吧,要是shearer想当日后纽卡的主帅,我觉得助教是很合适

由于执教战绩糟糕，萨姆-阿勒代斯1月9日被纽卡斯尔免职，传奇球星基冈在1月16日取而代之。对于这一人事变动，前锋马丁斯拍手称快，他希望新帅能给予自己更多的信任。
马丁斯目前正跟随尼日利亚国家队征战非洲国家杯，他尚未同基冈见面，但他还是对自己在俱乐部的未来充满了期待，他相信自己勤王归来后定能在圣詹姆斯公园有更好的表现。
虽然身为纽卡斯尔本赛季最佳射手，而且比维杜卡和欧文更具威胁，但阿勒代斯却仅仅给了马丁斯16次首发上阵的机会，而且其中有11次被中途换下。因此，这位前国米射手坦言自己非常高兴看到阿勒代斯下课，他非常期待能够得到基冈的重用。

李总这文章里说到kk和shearer两人性格过于类同,这就是shearer拒绝助教的原因,但shearer进教练组,其影响力不会亚于日后的助教,很明显这个助教只是一个头衔吧,只有他参与到球队的训练对他做教练是很有帮助

小马好像和球队续约了.希勒与基冈的关系并不像想像中那么好,基冈没参加他的告别赛.我想无论是希勒还是基冈,他们只能为士气带来立杆见影的效果,在执教上都需要证明自己.

对于这几天的消息非常失望,我不知道是希勒还是俱乐部原因,怀斯要坐的位置本来是我希望希勒坐的,但就算希勒不来,找来怀斯也是莫明其妙,我们等于是帮其他年轻教练提供经验机会.
现在看起来基冈的执教能力已经被打上了个大大的问号,怀斯的到来也是不怀好意,估计是上头的第二套方案,但问题是怀斯能在战术上有何作用?基冈不行了换他上?
