Having scored five at the Riverside last season, United's second string repeated the feat at Billingham on Tuesday to avenge their defeat at SJP earlier in the season.
And leading the charge with another hat trick in this fixture was Andy Carroll - who could also afford the luxury of a missed penalty against the smoggies.
The early exchanges on a blustery but dry night at Central Avenue were even, with James Troisi first to try his luck from distance on 21 minutes.
That shot was deflected and from the resultant corner taken by Mark Doninger, Andy Carroll rose at the far post to head powerfully home.
There was almost an instant response from a Boro side whose attack was spearheaded by a tubby-looking Mido, but Fraser Forster dealt with two shots comfortably.
The same Doninger/Carroll corner combo came close to adding a second on 36 minutes only for the effort to be blocked by Jonathan Grounds in the six yard box.
Three minutes before the interval however we doubled our advantage, as Troisi threaded a precise pass through for Jonny Godsmark to notch his sixth goal of the season.
Mido failed to appear after the interval and the home side applied some pressure, having been geed up at half time.
However the closest they came was an Owen corner that Forster watched on to his crossbar.
The next meaningful goalmouth action came at the other end on 62 minutes, Kazenga LuaLua crumpling under a heavy lunge from Rhys Williams and referee Matadar pointing to the spot.
With LuaLua departing on a stretcher, Carroll won the argument with Troisi to take the penalty, only to step up and whack his effort off the crossbar, Boro 'keeper Turnbull looking to have got a vital touch on the shot.
It took just seven minutes for the striker to atone for that miss however, finishing well with a low angled volley that eluded 'keeper Ross Turnbull - Troisi again the provider.
And Boro's increasingly bad night worsened on 71 minutes when Graeme Owens left Doninger in a heap and was shown a straight red for his troubles.
A fourth goal arrived with 13 minutes of the game remaining, as Godsmark raced down the right and centered for Carroll to stroke the ball home and complete his hat trick.
And late substitute Dan Neary rounded off the scoring in the last minute as he converted with a deflected shot from twelve yards to cap our best performance - and result - of the season.
A thoroughly deserved first success for Academy coach Adam Sadler then and an impressive debut for Hungarian teenager Tamas Kadar, who looked confident and assured alongside David Edgar in central defence.

While his former side Swindon Town were beating Nottingham Forest in League One, Newcastle new boy marked his Toon debut with a goal against the same club.
And although we were unable to hang on for the win after going ahead, we came within five minutes of ending table-topping Forest's fourteen match unbeaten run.
United had missed the chance to take a first half lead when striker Frank Danquah hit the post with a 24th minute penalty, however Tozer made no mistake with a close range finish from a 71st minute Doninger corner.
Forest hit back with five minutes to go when returning 'keeper Mark Cook made a good save but couldn't hold the ball, allowing the prolific Ryan Whitehurst to net.

嗯,只要能有足够的供应他会有表现的,但他打过为数不多的比赛都是替补上阵,印象不太深,觉得他很高很壮

游戏里头球很好,呵呵,要是shearer做助教的话对他是有帮助
